About Us

So how did it all begin?

Hi!   My name is Michele and I live in the Scottish Borders. I have probably had every animal under the sun but never a Guinea Pig.   I hadn’t even really came into contact with cavies.   I had spent my early years involved with horses and then latterly with the cat fancy.

Anyway I was out with my partner Steve(now my husband) at a local garden centre and found myself looking at the small furries.   In particular a Marten Seal Rex Rabbit and a Slate and White Peruvian I was surprised to see two such lovely animal in a Garden Centre.   It was at this point that Steve suggested would I like them for an early birthday present.   I thought it a crazy suggestion but the more I looked at what I knew was going to be a lovely longhaired pig the more I thought she would be better off with me. It would also be a nice deviation away from the Cat Fancy of which I had had a gutful.

A week later we were back as Elvira needed a friend for company and we found our self bringing home Buffy a Black, Gold and White Abyssinian.   Over the next few months I added a Rex and Crested.

One day I thought to myself that Nova my Crested Sow was getting a bit greedy and putting on weight and then it occurred to me this wasn’t weight gain but pregnancy.
To my delight she produced two beautiful Coronet babies a sow and a boar which were so lovely they were to stay with us.

As well as showing my Siamese and Oriental cats I had began to show my rabbits yes I had added to that population too.

I had been attending a couple of shows in the North of England which also catered for Cavies so I was encouraged by a few cavy fanciers to take part and found myself Stewarding on my first outing the doing the judges book on my second outing.   Talk about a baptism of fire but I enjoyed every minute of it.     At this point I started to learn about wrapping coats and started to pick up a lot of hints and tips.   It seems that people in   the rabbit and cavy fancy are more encouraging to the novice and its nice to see juniors being encouraged too.   This just doesn`t happen in the cat fancy.

I have decided to concentrate on my Lunkarya, but continue to produce Sheltie, Coronet, Merino and Texel .

I hope you enjoy looking at my site and hope that you shall visit my other sites too.
